Eating healthy does not have to be hard. It's actually quite easy. Think "whole foods" - you know... foods that don't have an ingredients label. When you walk in the grocery store, shop the perimeter: produce, meats, dairy. When you need to purchase an item that does have an ingredients label, read everything on the label and make sure you know what each ingredient is. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. Be aware that sugars have many names, and if an ingredient ends with "ose" it's just another word for sugar (glucose, dextrose, fructose, lactose, maltose, sucrose, etc.).
In my virtual groups, we talk a lot about nutrition and how to properly fuel our bodies. Before I decided to be healthy and get my energy back, I thought I was eating healthy: flavored yogurts and microwavable "healthy" choice lunches were an everyday menu item for me during the school week. Once I became educated and started reading ingredient labels, I was shocked at what I was putting in my body!! No wonder I couldn't lose weight and I was tired all the time. But once I learned this simple tip of reading ingredients labels and eating whole foods, I felt SO much better and my energy came back.
Once you get the hang of it, it's really quite easy.
